Actress Patricia McPherson Celebrity Sponsor and  Co-Star In Knight Rider as Bonnie Barstow turns out 10 thousand people to weekend Ballona Wetlands events. LAUSD became a Co-Sponsor. Patricia hired

Marcia Hanscom, Public Relations to promote Wetlands 90. Together they introduced thousands of students, parents and outdoor enthusiasts to Ballona.

History of Patterns and Practices

2002 Plantiffs Marcia Hanscom, Wetland Action Network (WAN), Ballona Wetlands Land Trust (BWLT) and Sierra Club filed a CEQA and Coastal Act Lawsuit against Playa Capital and California Coastal Commission with Sierra Club funding. The entities agreed to share the legal fees. BWLT paid their share and WAN reneged on their share. As a result the Sierra Club agreed not to pursued an appeal in exchange for Playa Capital paying all legal fees. 

2007-2009 Penny Elia asserted in an email dated February 7, 2009 the following:
Marcia Hanscom , CLEAN [Coastal Law Enforcement Action Network] (CLEAN) request a Sierra Club Grant for $6500 grant that was paid in full to Marcia Hanscom in April 2007. The lawsuit was never filed. Marcia never returned the money. “Marcia came in and tried to put together a private settlement behind our [Sierra Club Hobo Aliso] Task Force’s back.”

2016-2017 Steve Wicke, Angeles Chapter Conservation Committee Chair repeatedly asked Marcia Hanscom to submit written Annual Reports for Ballona Wetland Restoration Committee. Marcia NEVER complied.

2019 Letter from Angelica Gonzales, August 2, 2019 
“It is quite evident that the lack of effort to form a team around Ballona is not differing Campaign strategies/goals, it is a Power grab and a failure to be willing to cooperate as "One Sierra Club" for the sake of preserving the Wetlands.  The Ballona Wetlands [Restoration] Committee demonstrated that it is stuck in the past and not willing to move forward.”
